SETTING.

The municipal term of Ayamonte, with a surface of 14,129 hectares, and one population of approx 18,000 inhabitants, extends capriciously from the coastal edge towards the North, following the course of the Guadiana River and making border with Portugal, fact that marks the friendly character of its people. The economic activity turns surroundings to its two great tricks: the Cultural Tourism and of Sun and Beach, and the commerce.

Ayamonte has a Mediterranean-oceanic weather, it is quite soft because of the presence of Atlantic Ocean and the flowing of River Guadiana, that's why it can be said that it is generally warm and wet. The winds are usually from south-east and east. The rains -around 500 mm- are mainly focused in Winter and Spring, and they are almost null in Summer.

An important weather data to focus on is the high number of hours which the poeple of the city enjoy, and the almost total ausence of snow, which together with the water resources from Piedras-Chanza, are the necessary elements to explain the agricultural and touristic development.

All of this, together with to the colorful thing of the town and the importance that it has within the province (Ayamonte is party head), make of Ayamonte one of the tourist destinies that in the last years has grown with more force not only in Huelva but in all Andalusia.

Ayamonte is equipped with the services of one capital of province: 2 high-schools, 5 schools, several day-care centers, library, 1 health center and 2 doctor's offices, national tourism theater, 1 inn, 4 four star hotels, 2 three star hotels and several pensions and inns as well as hotels, at the moment are being constructed a shopping center whose conclusion is predicted for end of 2006.

Perfectly communicated by highway with all Spain, being the localities of Huelva to 50 km. and 135 km. from Seville. Its to 50 km from the International Airport of Faro, in Portugal and to 150 km from the International Airport of Seville. The Isla Canela Golf course , of 18 holes, is to only 2 kms. from the city, in natural surroundings of great beauty and peace.
